The Philippines is a haven for social media users. Filipinos love using Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram as their go-to platforms for sharing their lives, their food, and their interests. The opportunities here for digital and mobile marketers are endless, and things are about to get even more exciting in a couple of years.

Recognizing the potential for maximizing social media and online business, the iAcademy School of Continuing Education (iSCE) in Makati City – in partnership with the International Institute of Digital Marketing (IIDM) – recently hosted a talk on Social Media and Digital Marketing, bringing together people that are at the forefront of interacting and doing business in the online space.

Guest speakers included Hans Roxas-Chua, IIDM co-director and president of E-Learning Edge, with the talk on How to Learn Digital Marketing Online; Jason Cruz, director of community management for MRM Worldwide Manila on How to Land a Coveted Social Media Job; and Anton Diaz, founder of and a partner at the popular Mercato Centrale weekend food market, with his talk on How to Use Social Media to Drive Business.

Tina Vitas, executive director of iSCE says that the digital and mobile marketing arena are two key areas that are going to increase exponentially in the next few years. “People still have to be told that the Digital Marketing industry is going to earn $8 Billion in two years and it is growing at an incredibly fast pace,” she enthused. “In the market right now we need to make sure that we empower more people with skills and knowledge so that they are qualified for these jobs.”

The iSCE was launched late last year to answer the need for working professionals to keep updated with trends and best practices in the industry by offering short courses on key areas of learning. Three of the top programs include the Certified Securities Specialist course in partnership with the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Lean Six Sigma course, and the Certified Digital Marketer in partnership with the IIDM presenting iAcademy’s first online courses in Mobile and Digital Marketing.
