It’s been three years now and life as a college student is getting harder and harder. I remember way back in high school when I also felt the struggle. The mere sight of the word “college” made me cringe, that it came to a point that I didn’t want to go to college anymore.

One day, I came to realize that, hey, college is just another level of education. I survived high school so why should I fear college? Why should I back down?

Choosing what course to take became easy. I remember one of my much-loved books, The Little Prince. One of my favorite lines in the book is, “What is essential is invisible to the eye.” And further it says, “It is only with the heart that one sees clearly.”

We should choose and do things with the heart. So just know what’s really in your heart, what you’re passionate about. Not that choosing a “practical” course is a bad thing, but don’t you think the effort to fit in and pass will just keep you from preparing and focusing on the real world ahead?

I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, major in Advertising. I was not sure about this at first but since I’m passionate about the arts, why not? You might say that, “Yeah, Fine Arts is an easy course, of course you’ll survive.” I say, no, my course has never been easy for me and, I guess, to everyone. You’ll never believe how we get to survive all the plates we have to do each week week. Minor subjects are not included, just so you know. All other courses are challenging, too, and I mean all of them.

What I learned so far is that I don’t have to worry. Success comes to those willing to work, and I’m studying a course that I’m willing to work hard for.
